Every year Boodles, the leading British jeweller, creates a number of unique and exquisite designs, combining quite exceptional gemstones with rich creativity and craftsmanship. To celebrate and promote the 2011 collection, Walford Wilkie created a dedicated brochure, designed to glorify the original inspiration of fantastical flora and fauna. We commissioned the leading botanical artist Bryan Poole to create a series of illustrations, all relating to detailed elements in the jewellery. One particular challenge was that the jewellery was not completed in time to photograph it and produce the brochure before the first exhibition date. As a result, we took the bold decision to use illustrations of the jewellery itself too. Necessity is often the mother of invention, and the result has been judged to be stronger, combining the intricate quality of jewellery with the unequaled quality of Bryan Poole’s etchings.
